Project Description

Digital illustration of the Hawaiian god Kāne

Kāne is the Hawaiian god of forests and trees. He is considered the highest of the four major Hawaiian deities, along with , Kanaloa and Lono. He was the god of procreation and was worshiped as ancestor of chiefs and commoners. Kane is the creator and gives life associated with dawn, sun and sky.

The yellow blossoms around Kāne are creosote flowers from around my desert home. Las Vegas has been called the Ninth Island due to the large and growing population of Hawaiian born people relocating here.

Mahalo: Hawaiian, ‘thank you’. An expression of gratitude.
