Still Life with The Hermit – original oil painting
The items in this painting are all items that I never tire of looking at. The pottery is actually something I made years ago and has survived all my moves and changes I have experienced in my life. The trilobite is one of the fossils that belonged to my mother when she was alive, and now is a muched loved part of my growing collection. The two paper cranes are symbols of growth, freedom and expansion (for me personally) and a hope for peace in a global sense. Finally, The Hermit tarot card has long been one of my favorites of all the Major Arcana. For me this card represents searching for truth and understanding and then doing my best to shine the light of truth and understanding back out to the world.
The palette I use is limited. Most of my works are painted with combinations of four colors: ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow, cadmium red, and a little bite of white.
