Painting of cafe chairs and a desert road

Coffee Cup Mojave

Oil and pencil on linen / 12″ x 36″ (sold)

This piece is an homage to the old Coffee Cup Cafe in Boulder City, Nevada (now the site of Dam Rosters House and Browder Bookstore) and desert road-trips I love so much.

The left side of the painting shows a view of the counter and stools one morning after having just finished breakfast. I loved they way the morning light streaming through the windows was bathing the red vinyl stools and wood counter top casting deep shadows. It was a rare and quiet moment between  customers rushes.

The right side of the painting is a view of the road through the Valley of Fire Nevada State Park.
